As ladies from the south, we love a good rustic wedding. But we often get asked can we get a Western feeling without leaning into the farmhouse era? We got you! The trick is to not spell it out for guests- literally. Don't put words and labels on everything that doesn't traditionally require it. You want to give the feeling of rustic, south western charm. Think about it from the perspective of someone who was born and raised in the south instead of what a Facebook mom from up north.
Stick with warm tone color pallets as much as possible! There are a lot of traditionally rustic items to stick with as well:
turquoise jewelry
bolo ties
cow skulls and cow hide
cowboy hats
lace
wood and natural elements
leather materials
What do you avoid?
Labeling everything
Cotton as floral décor
Camo print and/or neon orange
Too much wood décor
Birchwood cake décor
Anything referencing to slavery
Mason jars
